2011 July- "Be Creative! Be Dynamic!" a project for AAU's exhibition in Taipei

"Be Creative! Be Dynamic!"

Scenographer: HSUAN KU
Spatial Designer: Kevin Bear

Concept Origin
From Academy of Art University’s website, portfolio and its exhibitions
goal in Taiwan that we reckoned, we have discussed this project for several times. We are very interested in AAU’s beliefs in education- cultivating ambitious future artists and designers, and we do appreciate AAU’s abundant creativities in arts very much as well. Absolutely, it is a whole new project for us, we want to make it as unique as possible, for one reason is to attract more visitors to realise AAU and another is to show/ explore different possibilities of exhibition in Taiwan by this opportunity.

How to Design it:
Firstly, we want to transfer a two- dimensional illustration into a three-
dimensional exhibition space, that’s the reason we choose the name- Be Creative! Be Dynamic! This place will show people a powerful visual impact through a strong contrast, which is pictured by pure white background and black hand- drawing lines. Also San Francisco Bridge will be a crucial image for visitors to connect SF and Taipei together, no matter visually or emotionally. Television wall in the background will be a representation of beautiful ambience in SF, videos played on TV screens are repeated and sort of nostalgia, and the song’s beautiful atmosphere is what we want to present- “if you’re going to San Francisco. Be sure to wear some flowers in your hair.” Most importantly, we want to show people the AAU’s creativity from our design!
